Through the darkest of night, and the heat of day,
A ship sails with haste from the African Bay.
This ship carried cargo, more precious than gold,
Carried human beings who were meant to be sold.
Robbed of their culture, to their history blind,
Knowledge is essential to a strong black mind
Let us be historically, and culturally immersed.
Let us feed our own hunger, and quench our own thirst.
Now we realize what we need most, we possess deep inside
It’s a feeling of spirit and we call it,
